This subject provides an opportunity for students to extend and make more sophisticated their understanding of professional and practitioner influence on health care policy and explore in detail the leadership aspects of changing and extending professional practice. There is an expectation that students situate their own practice issues within the context of relevant state and national policy and explore the international influences that impact on local workplaces. The subject examines factors that bear on resistance to and facilitation of change within professional practice. It provides a community of scholars with whom to discuss implications of plans for change and to discuss the leadership aspects of resolving practice and health care policy problems.
