This subject teaches the microarchitecture of the human organs and tissues adding to the knowledge base established in the subject Anatomy and Physiology by both showing and describing mammalian tissue structure of all major systems of the human body at the microscopic level. Students also learn about tissue fixation and processing, embedding into paraffin blocks and the theory of sectioning. They study the theory and practice of histological staining techniques, which differentiate between different tissue elements. These techniques along with microscopy skills and recognition of tissue histology comprise the practical component of this subject.
