This subject provides advanced understanding of medical imaging technology. It covers a historical overview, mathematical preliminaries, and examination of specific imaging modalities: conventional X-rays, ultrasound, computer-assisted tomography (CAT), emission tomography, and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. A generic system view is introduced but the principles of the image acquisition process for each modality are also covered. The subject includes lectures, tutorials, and a hospital visit or guest lecture by a hospital specialist.
