This subject is designed to provide students with a practical introduction to international advocacy through mooting. Students examine the nature of public and private international legal disputes; and litigation in a variety of international courts and tribunals including the International Court of Justice, international commercial arbitration, and the World Trade Organization Dispute Panel. Included in the subject is a practical advocacy experience in which students select a forum of interest and are required to prepare both written and oral submissions on a hypothetical factual scenario. The subject is highly recommended for students undertaking either an international law or international trade law major and those students participating, or wishing to participate, in international mooting competitions.
