This subject introduces methods and ideas that form an indispensable part of commercial decision support systems in such diverse fields as supply chain management, financial analysis, transportation, production planning and scheduling. It introduces classical techniques for linear models in quantitative management and basic concepts of nonlinear optimisation. Topics covered include: the two-phase simplex method, the revised simplex method and the dual simplex method; duality theory; sensitivity analysis; branch-and-bound and cutting plane methods for integer programming; and optimality conditions in nonlinear programming.
