This subject introduces the .NET architecture and the Visual Studio development environment. The emphasis is on examining the .NET framework and the practicalities of developing software in this setting. Particular attention is paid to web development, web services and distributed applications. The design of the framework and the support it provides for language development are also considered in depth. The fundamentals of a programming language are introduced as required.
