This subject extends the principles developed for timber to the behaviour of concrete and steel structures. The interaction of concrete elements with foundation materials is also given more detailed consideration. Simple calculation techniques are used to illustrate the rationale behind various construction details, and special emphasis is given to the structural behaviour of temporary structures.
