Postgraduate

This subject studies and analyses contemporary planning theory (including the notions of democracy, power and governance and neo-liberalism) and advanced planning practice. It allows students to observe, perform and reflect on advanced techniques in the broad themes of ecologically sustainable development, community participation and economic development. Lectures explore the application of planning theory and contemporary planning approaches to: urban economic development, including the establishment of state-private sector partnerships and the fostering of industry clusters; collaborative planning; planning as part of the overall urban management for ESD and the operation of institutional frameworks; and planning for urban regeneration and urban consolidation.
