11317 Design and Construction

This subject provides students with a holistic view of the design and construct process through the development of a hands-on construction activity. Students from different discipline areas (architecture, construction, project management, interior design) work together in multidisciplinary teams to manage the processes of designing, planning, documenting and constructing a simple structure. Students develop competencies in problem solving and strategic thinking as the construction project moves through its various stages (from design idea to built actualisation) and cultivate skills in communication and negotiation while interacting with different construction industry professionals.
