This subject explores theoretical and practical perspectives on the teaching of pronunciation within a functional approach to language. Phonemic and prosodic aspects of language are considered, and the role of prosody in contributing to the construction of meaning will be explored. Students develop strategies for the teaching of pronunciation to learners of a second language, and also consider phonological aspects of the first language.
