This course is designed to provide registered nurses with the knowledge, expertise and competencies for advanced practice in mental health nursing.
Registered nurses wanting to develop and extend their knowledge of mental health nursing practice find this course an effective means of professional and personal development.

Applicants should be registered nurses with an Australian Bachelor's degree in nursing or an equivalent tertiary qualification. Registered nurses who do not have an undergraduate diploma or degree but do have recent relevant work experience and can demonstrate the capacity to undertake tertiary study may also be considered eligible.
Applicants are normally expected to have concurrent employment in their area of specialty and at least one year's full-time professional employment in nursing is desirable.
Students who successfully complete a university-approved mental health transition program are eligible to apply for exemption from up to 6 credit points (Specialty Clinical Practice).
The Graduate Certificate in Mental Health Nursing is offered on a one-year, part-time basis.
Students must complete a total of 24 credit points, comprising four specified subjects.
