This subject provides knowledge of the main groups of plant pathogens causing plant diseases, and an understanding of their modes of attack and of the methods for the prevention of spreading. The recognition of signs and symptoms is introduced, the influence of environmental conditions on disease development is examined, and methods of prevention are discussed. Collection, preservation and identification of plant pathogens form a component of this subject. Visits to research laboratories and commercial nurseries are included.
