This subject examines advanced molecular biological techniques, and the performance of both nuclear and mitochondrial DNA Laboratory extraction procedures from a variety of samples. DNA extract amplification and examination using the standards is highlighted as required for court admissible evidence. Population genetics and population structure is addressed in relation to relevance of results. Basic population statistics and likelihood ratios are discussed in relation to considerations, quality control, proficiency testing and accreditation.
