This foundation subject introduces a number of associated topics about how animals function in their varied environments. In particular, it examines how animals have evolved into the many forms and developed mechanisms to survive extreme conditions as well as colonise nearly every habitat on the planet. In so doing, the subject addresses the fundamental questions about animal biology, physiology and behaviour. The subject uses online resources extensively.
