88606 Textiles: Installation

This subject takes a more theoretical approach to the exploration of textile and surface design through a study of architectonic and interior textiles; this also includes the study of fashion as installation. Techniques include digital and transfer printing to textile, paper, film, wallpaper and its application for various disciplines. Students are encouraged to apply knowledge into self-directed conceptual design projects for site-specific application. Students explore simulated digital textile environments, textile installation, and research into the conceptual use of textiles in the built environment. The work of contemporary designers and artists involved in installations is introduced and analysed in this subject.
