This subject advances knowledge and skill in the design and production of words and texts as typeset or hand-generated letterforms. Students gain an understanding of figure/ground relationships, hierarchical structures, spatial organisation, text setting for legibility and readability, and typographic detailing of headline copy. Students learn about recent technological changes, the realities of the marketplace and about typographic practice as a whole.
