This subject is an introduction to some fundamental concepts in chemistry. Topics covered are: chemicals and chemical reactions; atomic structure; periodic table; chemical bonding; enthalpy changes in chemical reactions; and the structures and properties of solids. There is a laboratory program which complements the learning experiences in the lectures and tutorials.
