This is a practice-based subject. It provides an opportunity to explore information practice and to gain professional experience in particular contexts through an individually developed learning contract negotiated with the student's academic supervisor. Students identify gaps in their knowledge and skills and then carry out a plan for professional development in these areas. The subject is based on independent study and self-directed learning which can include placement or work experience. Possible areas for learning and skill development include provision of business intelligence, electronic publishing, designing information systems, legal research, public relations, etc. This subject may only be undertaken in the final year of study.
