The aim of this subject is to cover current and future web technologies, and the design, development and management of web-based systems. The following material is covered: information concepts, web development processes; web system design models and methods; web modelling frameworks; web system architectures; web system quality; web evaluation; scoping of web projects; development risks; social issues; web content and advanced standards; web services, SOAP, Semantic Web, ontologies; AJAX, Web 2.0; web adaptation, customisation and contextualisation.

Assessment: Research report (30 per cent), major project (35 per cent), final examination (35 per cent).
