33116 Statistical Design and Analysis
6cp;
5hpw
This subject provides the theory and techniques needed in the design and analysis of experiments in the natural sciences. It covers descriptive statistics, measures of location and dispersion, commonly used discrete and continuous distributions and simple random sampling. Statistical tests, both parametric and distribution free, are presented for a variety of designs, including paired trials, completely randomised design, block designs and designs with interaction terms or covariates. The analysis of regression models is also presented, together with appropriate diagnostic techniques to determine the validity of the models.
