Recommended studies: a basic understanding of Internet technologies, web browsers and HTML, and at least two years' industry experience

This subject provides an introduction to the design and management of web-based systems. Specific emphasis is placed on the design of usable, scalable, standards-based systems. Taking a use-centred contextual design approach, students will develop their understanding of the theory and practical skills required to effectively design and deliver web information content to different kinds of users in a variety of formats. Content creation, management, evaluation and workflow are addressed, with particular emphasis on the end-to-end design of enterprise content management initiatives.
