This subject introduces students to a new important cross-disciplinary field of study: bioinformatics, which lies at the intersection of IT and the life sciences. Students observe from the computational perspective of data mining biological data. There is no assumed knowledge of biology; it is taught, subject to student need. Students gain specific theoretical and practical experience of data mining in the bioinformatics domain.
