Network design is still as much an art as a science. This subject formalises in a logical manner the step-by-step analysis and design process. Many designs also rely on extending an existing network for emerging requirements. Principles and issues associated with this approach to the network design problem are considered. Assignments designed for this subject take the student through a set of cases that deals with real-world network analysis and design problems.
