Digital multimedia is a combination of media (text, pictures, audio and video) that is represented digitally and hence can be treated as data by computer programs. The full potential of this fact is yet to be explored, but one facet of it – its interactivity – distinguishes digital multimedia from its predecessors. Digital media applications are becoming more and more popular in e-Business, web information systems and computing in general. This introductory subject presents digital media technology in the context of its application in web information and e-Business environments.
