This subject forms part of stage two of the Executive MBA enabling subjects and focuses on developing advanced conceptual skills in value chain management through up-to-date, leading-edge knowledge of core business processes to problem analysis and decision making in complex and unpredictable environments. The subject is experientially grounded and uses both simulations and problem-solving and teamwork activities as catalysts for learning. In the course of workshops, students assess business risk through an analysis of industry and competitive conditions in a global context; implement enhanced problem solving and creative thinking techniques appropriate to workplace environments; think strategically about a company's competitive situation and future prospects; and develop and raise value chain strategies in the light of changing conditions and social and environmental responsibility considerations.
