This subject is based on the analysis of the public room in the public space of the city. It includes a survey of the changes in concepts of public space in the city across time and cultures, the persistence of monuments, and a review and critique of architectural and urban design histories and theories. It also comprises an introduction to the work of key architects and their contribution to the architecture of the city.
