11291 Freehand Illustration

6cp
Undergraduate

This subject is focused on practical experience in freehand drawing and presentation. The classes focus on life drawing, experimentation with alternative rendering techniques, and finally, presentation layouts for design and the rendering of these drawings. The idea is to improve the relationship between what we see and how we graphically present these images. The classes are run so that much of the work is done during class time with opportunities for immediate feedback. There are also assignments due periodically throughout the semester.

The subject content includes: life drawing from a model; still life drawings; experimental work with different rendering techniques such as watercolour, colour pencil and gauche; and composition layout and presentation skills.
