This subject examines the psychological research literature on aspects of adult development and ageing relevant to adult education practice. This subject concentrates on quantitative as well as qualitative psychological research evidence relevant to the following topics: methodological issues in studying adult development and ageing; changes in sensation; perception; arousal; attention and learning, and memory. Major qualitative developmental life-stage theories, such as Levinson, are explored. Also considered is intellectual development as well as the effect of ageing on specific abilities and skills, creativity, and personality development.
