This subject focuses on the different phases of skill learning and the stages in the development of expertise. It considers strategies and knowledge required to understand, plan for and teach skill development in specialist subject areas. The basis of classification of skills into cognitive and performance skills is explored. It develops critical self-awareness in the student and assists in developing goals for long-term professional teaching/training development.
