6cp
Postgraduate
Subject coordinator: Rosemary Faire

This subject provides a theoretical background for the field of music therapy through a study of the medical and psychotherapeutic models that have influenced clinical practice. Such exogenous models are compared and contrasted with indigenous models developed from within the arts therapies. Controversies are examined relating to disciplinary borders and artwork-centred approaches. This subject also engages students in experiential work involving self reflection and a self-care program in order to support the development of personal and professional resources.
