ELSSA Centre: English language assistance

The ELSSA Centre is the UTS centre for academic language development. It provides free, custom-designed programs in academic writing, reading, speaking, critical thinking and cultural knowledge to meet the needs of undergraduate and postgraduate students completing their degree in English. The Centre also offers several award programs.

Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning

Student Support Unit

Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning's (Jumbunna IHL) Student Support Unit provides a range of academic and cultural support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying at UTS. This includes academic assistance, cultural activities, cultural affirmation programs, group and private study areas, student common room and kitchen, and a computer laboratory.

Jumbunna IHL also offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate electives to all students.

Mathematics and ICT Study Centre

The Mathematics and ICT Study Centre offers free assistance with mathematics, statistics and basic computing to students from all faculties. The Centre can also assist students with common computing packages such as wordprocessing, spreadsheets, presentation managers, Mathematica, Minitab and SPSS.

The Centre runs subjects to assist with particular courses, for example, Mathematics for Nursing, and workshops such as Examination Preparation for Business. It also runs short bridging courses in mathematics, statistics and computing, and a volunteer peer tutoring program. Centre staff are active in education research and the development of resources. The Centre is a member of the Bridging Mathematics Network and several international academics visit the Centre each year.
