Overview

The Master of Arts in Indigenous Social Policy is designed to provide opportunities for those involved in the indigenous social policy process in community and government settings to broaden and deepen their professional skills and knowledge.

Students develop leadership in the analysis, development and implementation of indigenous social policy. Students have the opportunity to study in an area relevant to their professional needs and interests.

Career options include employment in the government or community sectors in indigenous policy development and application.

Articulation

This course is structured in three stages:

  • Stage 1 (Graduate Certificate exit point)
  • Stage 2 (Graduate Diploma exit point)
  • Stage 3 (Master's level).

Students are expected to complete all subject requirements at each stage before progressing to the next stage of the course.

There is an option of early exit points with a Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Social Policy (C11169) or a Graduate Diploma in Indigenous Social Policy (C07095). Note that students cannot enrol directly into these courses.

Additional admission requirements

The course is open to indigenous and non-indigenous applicants who have a Bachelor's degree or a diploma-level qualification and at least three years' experience in a relevant organisation.

Course duration and attendance

This course is offered on a two-year, part-time basis. Full-time study may be negotiated. The course is offered in block attendance mode comprising two four-day blocks each semester.

Course structure

The Master of Arts in Indigenous Social Policy totals 48 credit points of study, made up of six compulsory subjects and two electives.
