Overview

The Master of Management in Tourism Management is an advanced program of study, providing students with the opportunity to further develop their interests and to complete a significant project in any area related to tourism management.

The Tourism Management program has been developed to meet the demand for professionals with a high level of management expertise. The course covers an extensive range of elements associated with the tourism phenomenon and highlights how critically important it is for effective tourism managers in the tourism industry to understand the interrelationships among these elements.

Course aims

Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on the acquisition of strategic planning skills for tourism development, management and marketing.

Articulation

This course is part of an articulated program comprising the Graduate Certificate in Tourism Management (C11035), the Graduate Diploma in Tourism Management (C07027), and the Master of Management in Tourism Management.

Additional admission requirements

Applicants require one of the following:

  • a degree from a UTS-recognised university or other tertiary education institution
  • a relevant Graduate Diploma from UTS or another recognised tertiary education institution, or
  • a relevant Graduate Certificate from UTS or another recognised tertiary education institution, with at least a Credit average.

Additional recognition of prior learning

Students may be granted a maximum of eight subject exemptions, of which four core subjects can be approved from prior undergraduate study.

Course duration and attendance

The Master of Management in Tourism Management is a three-year part-time, or two-year full-time course.

The Tourism Management program is offered at Kuring-gai campus.

Course structure

The Master of Management in Tourism Management comprises 72 credit points of study, made up of eight core subjects (48 credit points), and either a coursework or research strand (24 credit points each).
