3hpw
This subject provides an advanced understanding of the physiological basis of the nervous system and a solid grasp of the relationship between mind and behaviour with emphasis on the underlying structures and physiological mechanisms. It covers physiology and functions of the nervous system, with special reference to case studies of disease states in the nervous system. Implications for health are emphasised throughout the subject. The subject encourages the student to evaluate the connections believed to occur between attitudes, behaviour, lifestyle, physiology, and health outcome. Lectures are complemented by practical workshops, discussion in tutorials and on student participation as active learners, for example in presentation of case studies and seminars.
