This foundation subject introduces a number of associated topics relating to animals and animal function, including evolution and diversity of Australian animals. In particular, it examines the many environments and how animals have evolved into the many forms and developed mechanisms to survive extreme conditions as well as colonise the planet. In so doing, the subject addresses the issue of the origin of life and the possibilities of extraterrestrial life forms. The subject uses online resources extensively.
