Continuing the prerequisite furniture design subject, this subject examines, through the academic fields of history, design theory, ergonomics and appropriate technology, the methodologies and systems of furniture design. Students progress through a series of projects and gain a specialised knowledge of the area of design and fabrication of furniture pieces. Students are expected to realise models and prototypes of their designed works in the later stages of the course. Lectures and workshop classes are supported by factory and workshop visits.
