This subject requires the student to develop a detailed understanding of ecological, social and economic sustainability as applied to the practice of interior design and the making of interior space to faciliate sustainable life. The student explores specific interior design implications of sustainability and develops a personal approach to interior design practice that incorporates the philosophy and practices of ecodesign. A series of lectures and workshop activities related to case studies of interior space within the built environment is developed through student research projects. The knowledge gained from the research is applied through the design and development of interior spaces that explore the key approaches of ecodesign in relation to interior design practice.
