This subject requires the student to develop an advanced understanding of the effects of new digital technologies that extend the discipline of interior design. Information technology and digital media in the form of drawing and CAD packages is examined through design projects. The emphasis is on communication technologies that enable the student to explore the medium of digital communication as it relates to the built environment. The exploration of user interfaces through the transference of information from interior forms and materials is examined in detail. Other new developments in digital technologies that affect interior design are explored. A series of lectures, tutorials, workshops, and design projects allows the student to examine and explore these issues.
