This subject requires the student to develop a clear understanding of design methodologies and building technologies that are used in the design and construction of adaptive reuse projects. Through a series of lectures, tutorials and design projects, students explore the issues of design, environmental systems, construction systems, and finishes appropriate for commercial interior design projects. Specific study is made of the following systems: building fabric, building support, building roof, space division, access, fenestration, HVAC, utility, cabinetry, finishing, and FF&E. The relationship of sustainable principles to technology is also discussed.
