This subject includes the theory, application and testing of the information to design and document houses and apartment interiors. Through a series of lectures, projects, and tutorials, the students gain access to knowledge of the various design issues involving domesticity. The projects include site survey, environmental systems, planning, and the furniture, equipment and fit out of residential living, sleeping and utility spaces. Building access and utility services are also studied.

Client presentation and contract documents – including working drawings, specifications, details and schedules – are included in assessment. The principles of sustainability are discussed within this subject, together with the local government codes, the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards.
