84123 Material Manipulation
6cp
Requisite(s): 84120 Structure, Form and Material in Industrial Design Undergraduate
Manufacturing is intrinsic to design – without an understanding of basic manufacturing principles such as how materials are processed, which materials provide what properties, etc., it is impossible to produce a considered design response to a problem. This subject aims to introduce major processes and materials, to involve students in design projects that demand material and process considerations, and to initiate a lifelong learning process aimed at validating the conceptual design process.
