On completion of this subject, students should have developed: an understanding of several core constitutional features of Britain, Canada, New Zealand and the United States; the ability to comparatively analyse the manifestation of separation of powers, responsible government, judicial review and federalism across those systems; insights into desirability or otherwise of different models of parliamentary reform and the adoption of a Bill of Rights; and defensible opinions as to how the insights engaged from examination of these jurisdictions may inform possible reform of the Australian constitutional system.
