This is an optional subject in the LLB degree. It examines in detail the area of medicine and law. Medicine is considered as part of the wider health care picture. It is contended that in order to appreciate how law has impacted on health it is necessary to have some understanding of the culture and language used in health. It is therefore envisaged that different areas of health and how it related to law will be discussed. Part of this process includes an examination of how law and bioethics interrelate with each other. This subject examines how law impacts on medicine by examining how the law deals with significant life events. The subject traces legal and ethical principles starting from conception to death.
