This subject familiarises students with the practicalities of civil litigation in New South Wales in courts governed by the new Uniform Civil Procedure Act 2005 and Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 2005, with a particular focus on the Supreme Court. It is an assumption of the subject that if students can learn to run a case in the Supreme Court, the skills they acquire in this jurisdiction can be readily applied in other jurisdictions. The subject aims to help students develop familiarity with the legislation and case law, and to apply and use it in relevant fact and problem situations.
