This is a foundation physics subject primarily for students in the physical sciences. It covers the fundamentals of dynamics and statics, fluid mechanics, thermal physics, and waves. A strong emphasis is placed on the investigative nature of physics research with an integrated laboratory program developing further the problem-solving skills of the lecture and tutorial material to an appreciation of good experimental design and significance of information obtained under real-life modelling situations.
