Graduate subject – Social Inquiry – 400 level

Professional practice in social inquiry draws heavily on advocacy and communication on social issues. This subject explores the strategies and resources needed to develop effective advocacy on social issues, including the commissioning and use of research, the preparation of submissions, the building of lobbying relationships, and the use of various media. It also explores the application of these resources to various public events, including exhibitions, displays and conferences. The subject reviews key ideas in strategic communication, and opens up the use of new media such as the Internet as part of the communication process now required in social inquiry.
