This subject examines emerging trends in internetworking protocols and specific initiatives in some depth. Particular topics include Internetworking protocol version 6, Quality of Service architectures and protocols (IntServ, DiffServ, MPLS), Security issues (IPSec, SSL/TLS), Mobility (MobileIP, CellularIP, GPRS, UMTS, 3G, etc.), Network Management and Next Generation Networks.

Assessment: Assignment (10 per cent), project (30 per cent), examination (60 per cent).
