This subject familiarises participants with a range of approaches used in information technology research, with an emphasis on approaches commonly used in practical settings. The advantages and limitations of different research approaches are examined, as well as their applicability in different information technology contexts. Experience is provided in the design of research studies, the analysis and interpretation of data, and report presentation. Participants acquire skills which will be useful in the conduct of research agendas in their own information technology organisations and in the critical evaluation of others' research work.
