For successful completion of this subject and the second Honours thesis subject, students are required to produce a 20,000-word (maximum) thesis based on an original problem of a theoretical or applied nature. The thesis is expected to demonstrate the student's competency to conceptualise, conduct and present research in a scholarly and independent manner. Full-time students enrol in this subject and the second Honours thesis subject in the first and second semesters of their course respectively, while part-time students enrol in the subjects in their third and fourth semesters respectively.
