Postgraduate

This is the second subject in the planning problem-solving project and requires students to produce a report which identifies the nature of the planning problem, the causes which give rise to this particular problem and the effects of the problem in terms of the environmental, economic and sociocultural consequences, as appropriate. This allows students to consider the extent of the problem and the potential stakeholders involved in addressing the problem. The subject is undertaken primarily via self-instruction, but students are carefully guided by their supervisor and meet on a regular basis. Students attend a day-long seminar, where they present and debate their report findings and their implications for the next stage: the elucidation of practical solutions.
